Chris, I agree with Tom on the identification of the larva as a Trogoderma. It is extremely difficult to identify Trogoderma larva to a species in the larval stage. We often will raise them out to adulthood in our insect chamber to identify down to a species level.
Regarding an odd beetle, Thylodrias contractus pheromone lure, this is something that we have been working on for over a decade. We are in the early stages of field testing to verify the effectiveness of a sex pheromone lure that has given good success in the lab. We are hoping to offer a commercial lure later this year if the positive lab results are reproduced in the field study. Look a the apical dense pair of tufts of hairs it flairs out when disturbed.
