My southern friends call those "Palmetto Bugs" (a generic term for a number of
cockroach species, but most common is the American and Smoky Brown) so you
might find more information on them with that term.

Thanks all for the precious information!

Today I saw this on the group floor.
He is adult, right?
(The nymph of yesterday was 1st floor on the opposite side).

I haven't seen them neither June and July in the traps.

Thanks again
Best wishes
Yoshiko

They can also enter through wet drains. In NYC we placed a paper bag at night
over a functioning sink drain to keep them from coming in.

I saw the map. So they are everywhere in Italy!

As this one is nymph, he can't fly, right?
So it could be that he was born in the library but doesn't entered for
outside!?!?!?

Hi Yoshiko,

the name „American coackroach“ is relative!! You could find these roach in
middle Europe and in many countries of the world.

For Italy you could find 309 observations in the homepage
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?nelat=47.092&nelng=18.7975999&place_id=any&subview=map&swlat=35.4897&swlng=6.6267201&taxon_id=82231

The one “American” could be imported or come from the outside in Firenze.

Best, Stephan

Thank you so much for the quick reply.

So this species is originally American!?

They live now also in Italy....

I saw only one until now in the library.

Hoping that there would not be anywhere else...

Thanks

Yoshiko

Hi everyone

I'll be grateful if you can help me to understand which kind of insect is this.

Is it a cockroach?

I'm used with Japanese species but I haven't seen one like this in Europe

Thanks for consideration.

Best wishes

Yoshiko
