Hello, I was the person who wrote the short paper on the use of the Honeywell BW Solo gas detector in its INERT mode for monitoring oxygen environments within a sealed Cryovac bag. Unfortunately we continued to have problems despite programming and assistance from the supplier, so just FYI I would only recommend using the Honeywell BW Solo device as a staff safety monitor. Fortunately our old Mobigas computer system (that issues the nitrogen when the levels rise from our set point) started working again but further research on other options has yet to find other devices as potentially straight forward as the BW Solo. The only other option were found appropriate was the Oxybaby device<https://www.oxybaby.com>, but that relies on puncturing the bag – our usual set up is with a gas-proof tent so not something we want to puncture to take a reading. Curious to know what others have been using! (and yay - finally a topic I can contribute to in the same general time zone – usually everything is thoroughly answered by the time I see it 12 hrs later). We are hoping to find an oxygen meter with similar functions to the Anoxibug: hands off monitoring, long battery life to last through an anoxic treatment cycle, no alarm systems, inexpensive. >From Crowther's and Breitung's paper, it seems like the Dräger PAC 5500 >Single-Gas O2 monitor would meet our needs, but modifications of the device >were needed to lengthen its battery life and remove the alarm system. The >National Gallery of Victoria published a short >paper<https://aiccm.org.au/network-news/low-oxygen-treatment> on their >experience with the Honeywell BW™ Solo gas detector (O2) BWS1-XL-Y, but that >needed modifications as well. I was just wondering if anyone in the US has had experience with these oxygen meters or something similar that can attest to their usefulness for anoxia treatments of museum objects. It would be great to get recommendations for trusted suppliers/vendors that are selling to the US and modifying these meters for museum anoxia treatments. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
