A few coworkers think that it is a cotton beetle...but I haven't been able to find too much information on what those beetles do and what potential risks they might present to our collection. They have been found (mainly dead) near one of our doors that leads outside in groups of anywhere from 10-30 each morning. We have also noticed them near the door to an emergency stairwell in another part of our building. Most of the time they are dead-likely due to the sprayed barrier that we have applied to our exterior doors. But the ones near the emergency stairwell were still skittering around. Any help on how to eradicate them and what they could potentially do to a collection would be much appreciated. Thanks!
