Hi I've just loaded Mepis 3.4 on an Inspiron 9100 laptop and so far like it alot as a general use distro. However as always there are a couple of things I can't iron out.
I cannot play dvd's as I get this error: The source can't be read. Maybe you don't have enough rights for this drive, or source doesn't contain data (e.g: no disc in drive) (Error reading NAV packet) I think I have installed lidvdcss, libdvdread etc via although I am not too sure as I have never used apt before tonight an I had trouble locating the right packages. Secondly there appears to be a problem with alsa. I have system sounds an I can play mp3's from my collection but I only seem to be able to control the volume etc from within the app that I am using to play the music, ie amarok. The main volume control in kmix does nothing, even though it all appears configured correctly. Any ideas ?
