Subject: [Peterboro] Useful Linux resources site
You may have already found this site, but I came across it today when
looking for a decent review of the Asus Eee. Not only was the review
extremely thorough and impressive (got to get one of those things), but
the whole site is a mine of Linux information and very well put together.
Check it out at www.linuxlinks.com.

Thanks for this link Dave - the appendix to the review is really useful.
(And the rest of the site looks stuffed with useful info too! :o))
Although I've had my Eee since the New Year I'd no idea half the stuff in
the appendix was on it!
It's a brilliant little machine, especially at the price, but you do have to
get it out of 'toddler mode' to really appreciate it, and it is irritating
not to be able to uninstall some of the 'designed for children' bits. I'd
still recommend it despite this, since with additional SD cards/USB sticks
for transferring documents, music etc onto if you want to keep them, you can
keep most of the onboard hard drive space for the system and applications -
it just niggles me to have any 'wasted space'.
I'm surprised Steve Emms didn't like the voice activation - it worked well
for me and is one of the things I missed when I swapped the 'Easy' interface
for the KDE grownup one. It's probably accessible via KDE somewhere, since
if I toggle back into Easy mode it's still there.... I just haven't had the
time to go looking for it yet....
:D
