Well you won't be the only one here affected I'm sure (and I can say I'm 
sure as I'm also affected).

It looks likely that anything over £50k will be lost as it does seem 
we'll have to rely on the compensation schemes (but I'm some way from 
hitting that limit - some way indeed!). Otherwise everything should be 
covered unless Iceland goes bust and the other Nordic countries can't 
honour their commitments to fund the shortfall. So we should be safe if 
just nervous for a while and with potential cashflow issues if we're 
relying on the saved money in the short term (I've heard suggestions 
that the compensation schemes should pay out in a couple of weeks, 
though, not months).

All that said many people expect the governments to keep things alive to 
avoid calling on compensation schemes so we'll have to wait and see.

And all that said, this subject is very off-topic so I'd strongly advise 
not getting financial advice here!
