I'm not sure magazine thickness is a valid discriminator; you can pick up a magazine like Computer Shopper and yes it is thick, but it's 90% (probably more) advertising. There is much less advertising in a Linux mag, so unless its the ad's you're after it's not a useful measure. However, I agree that magazines are expensive and there are better ways to spend the money, particularly when money is tight.
