For the time being, please can anyone who has subscribed with a Yahoo
address refrain from posting to this list. I don't want to formalise
this by banning Yahoo users (or removing their posting rights) but
Yahoo has forced this situation and I'm hoping they'll back down
before this has to become permanent.

The short version of what they've done is that their new anti-spam
settings require that email from yahoo addresses originates on their
servers (which sounds reasonable, except that's not how mailing lists
work or have ever worked - the list posts messages out on your behalf
retaining your address so that it's clear who sent the original
message). Furthermore their settings require that other mail providers
that follow similar standards block any mail that breaks these rules.

This means that if you send mail to this list, anyone with an account
at a widely used provider (Yahoo, Google, etc) will reject your mail.
The list software will detect these rejections, assume that the
addresses are no longer valid and unsubscribe them. Ie the Yahoo
user's mail won't be seen, but it's other users (themselves included)
who will get unsubscribed,

If you use a Yahoo email account for this list the only sensible
solution is to ditch it and get a new account elsewhere, Whether Yahoo
will fix this is anybody's guess.

If you are a Yahoo user who wishes to comment on this thread please
email me off list and I'll forward to the list. If you wish to comment
to me offlist and not have it forwarded to the list please make that
clear in your email.
