Special Section on Concurrent/Hybrid Systems: Theory and Applications The IEICE(Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, Japan) Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences (published in November 2006). Submission deadline: March 31, 2006. ================================================================================== The IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences announce a forthcoming Special Section on Concurrent/Hybrid Systems: Theory and Applications to be published in November 2006. Concurrent system, where many processes run concurrently with interaction among themselves, includes vast variety of realistic systems such as communication systems, transportation systems, software engineering, workflow and so on. On the other hand, hybrid system, where continuous and discrete dynamics run with interaction, has become noticed as to have application to systems such as manufacturing systems, man-machine systems, systems biology and so on. Net theoretic, object oriented and simulation approaches are applied to modeling, analysis, synthesis and verification of concurrent systems. These approaches are succesfully extended to problems of hybrid systems. Studies on concurrent/hybrid systems as large-scale and complex systems will become of more and more importance in the near future. The aim of this special section is to clarify the state of art of research on concurrent/hybrid systems and to promote the future research. The topics of interest within the scope of this special section include, but not limited to, the following areas: - Modeling, analysis, synthesis and verification of concurrent/hybrid systems - Manufacturing systems, transportation systems and business information systems - Decentralized autonomous systems and multi-agent systems - Control systems - New applications For the submission to this Special Section, at least one author of each paper must be a member of the IEICE.We strongly recommend that all authors apply for IEICE membership. For membership applications, please visit the web-page, http://www.ieice.org/eng/member/OM-appli.html The submitted paper will be reviewed by reviewers according to the ordinary rules of the Transaction Editorial Committee. It is recommended that the lengths of a paper and a letter for this special section are within 8 and 2 printed pages, respectively. Please consult the Information for Authors that is available at the web page: http://www.ieice.org/eng/shiori/mokuji.html Prospective authors are strongly encouraged to submit an electronic version of the manuscript in PDF format to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and send Copyright transfer form via postal mail to the following address. If the electronic submission is not possible, please send four copies of the manuscripts to the following address. In case of the hard-copy submission, the top of the first page should be marked with ``Special Section on Concurrent/Hybrid Systems'' in red ink. The deadline for the paper submission is March 31, 2006. Please note that if the number of accepted papers exceeds the limit, some papers may be published in the following transactions.
