Dear members of the Petri net community

The Steering Committee has decided to extend the format of the Petri net conference, so that there now are a total of 6 workshops and 2 advanced tutorials on the two days prior to the conference. The papers from the workshops will be published in informal proceedings which typically will be technical reports of the organising University (or just hand-outs).

After the conference we will invite a number of the best workshop papers to contribute to a Joint Post-proceedings, to be published much more widely, e.g. by Springer-Verlag in LNCS. The chosen papers are expected to be thoroughly revised and will go through an additional round of reviewing similar to the process which is used for special sections in journals. Hence, the quality will be high.

The new format will be implemented starting with the 2007 conference in Siedlce, Poland, and the first volume of the Joint Post-proceedings will be ready for sale at our conference in June 2008. For each conference the Steering Committee will appoint two Workshop and Tutorial chairs who will coordinate the workshops and tutorials and will be the editors of the Joint Post-proceedings.

For the 2007 conference in Siedlce, Poland the Workshop and Tutorial chairs will be:

        - Wil van der Aalst, The Netherlands
        - Jonathan Billington, Australia

Within the next few weeks they will publish a "Call for Proposals for Workshops and Advanced Tutorials". This is an invitation to the Petri net community to propose subjects and organisers for workshops and advanced tutorials. The deadline for submission of proposals is June 1 2006.

Kurt Jensen
SC chair
