Call: WOSP08 Fast Abstracts (by April 15)

ACM Workshop on Software and Performance, June 23-26, Princeton, NJ
co-sponsored by ACM SigSoft and SigMetrics: see http://www.inf.pucrs.br/wosp/

WOSP08 is offering a new category of papers: Fast Abstracts. These are short
presentations that describe work in progress and can address any issue that is
relevant to performance and software. These papers are intended to provide
the authors with early feedback from the community. Subject matter may range
from industrial experience to research topics.

WOSP brings together software engineers, developers, performance analysts and
software/performance modellers who are addressing the challenges of: increasing
system complexity, rapidly evolving software technologies, short time to
market, incomplete documentation, and less-than-adequate methods, models and
tools. The focus of WOSP is therefore in the intersection of software and
performance, rather than one discipline in isolation. Some topics:
   * Performance modeling of software: languages, methods and tools,
     composing models, user behavior
   * Performance measurement and analysis: testing, monitoring, data analysis
   * Performance related to other quality attributes and to cost and schedule
   * Performance and software development processes: patterns and antipatterns,
performance oriented design, Software Performance Engineering and
Model-Driven Development, performance annotations for software designs.
   * Applications of all kinds from enterprise to entertainment to critical.

*Submission Deadline April 15 2008*

Fast Abstracts can be up to two pages in length using the standard ACM
conference format (http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/pubform.doc, you can
ignore the keywords etc). There will be no revision cycle, so the abstract must
be in the final pdf format. They should be sent by email to both program
committee Chairs:
Elaine Weyuker [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Murray Woodside [EMAIL PROTECTED]

*Selection and Notification*

Fast abstracts will be selected based on the basis of relevance to WOSP08 and
also on the likelihood that they will stimulate discussion. Accepted Fast
Abstracts will be published in a separate section of the WOSP08 proceedings and
one author will present a five minute talk.

Authors will be notified by April 22.
