Handbook of Research on Artificial Intelligence in Industrial
Information Systems: Methodologies, Frameworks and Emerging Technologies
Editor: Xuan F. Zha, Ph.D
Introduction: Over the last decade information
technology (IT) has had a profound impact on the evolution of industrial
enterprises
as fully integrated entities. We have witnessed major efforts led by some of
the largest multinationals to utilize IT to achieve solutions for advancing
industrial controls and automation, as well as industrial enterprise
integration. With the continuous advancement of AI and IT, intelligent
systems can be beneficially applied to many industrial IT fields. Integrated
intelligent
information systems are increasingly gaining better acceptance and applications
for improving effectiveness and efficiency of industrial
units and enterprises. In such an
ever-evolving environment, teachers, researchers and professionals of the AI
and IT disciplines need access to the most current information about their
concepts,
issues, trends and technologies as well as their research and applications in
industrial information systems. The Handbook of Research on Artificial
Intelligence in Industrial Information Systems will be most helpful as it
provides comprehensive coverage and definitions of the most important issues,
concepts, methodologies, frameworks, emerging technologies and future trends of
intelligent industrial information systems. This important new publication will
be distributed worldwide among academic and professional institutions and will
be instrumental in providing researchers, scholars, students and professionals
access to the latest knowledge related to AI and information science and
technology. Contributions to this
important publication will be made by scholars throughout the world with
notable research portfolios and expertise.
Coverage: The Handbook of Research on Artificial
Intelligence in Industrial Information Systems will provide a compendium of
terms, definitions and explanations of concepts, processes and acronyms.
Additionally, this volume will feature
chapters (8,000-10,000 words) authored by leading experts offering an in-depth
description of key terms and concepts related to different areas, issues and
trends in information
science and technologies in modern organizations worldwide. Potential Chapter

Invited Submissions: Individuals interested in submitting chapters
(8,000-10,000 words) on the above-suggested topics or other related topics in
their area of interest, should submit via e-mail, a 2-3 page manuscript
proposal clearly explaining the mission and concerns of the proposed chapter by
May 15, 2008. We strongly encourage other topics that have not been listed in
our suggested list, particularly if the topic is related to the research area
in which you have expertise. Upon acceptance of your proposal, you will have
until August 30, 2008, to prepare your chapter of 8,000-10,000 words and 7-10
related terms and their appropriate definitions. Guidelines for preparing your
paper and terms and definitions will be sent to you upon acceptance of your
proposal.
