He fought a courageous battle against cancer during these last six months, but remained active until the very end. His pain was strong during his last days, but he wanted to complete his contribution to a book that he had been preparing for several months. After his studies in Grenoble, Philippe Darondeau stayed for 35 years in IRISA, first as a CNRS researcher, then as an Inria Research Director since 1991. He was responsible for a project team for 15 years, before joining the S4 team in which he worked for the last 12 years. His main contributions have been in concurrency and Petri-net theory. His contributions to the theory of regions have been influential and his forthcoming book will be a reference on this topic. Our thoughts are for his wife, family and friends, to whom we present our sincere condolences. A website has been opened for [email protected] who want to honour his memory : http://www.irisa.fr/Philippe.Darondeau ac.uk Philippe's close colleagues !DSPAM:14,51484717125811661411488!
