*Call for Papers*

Workshop on Models and Methods for hospital management and planning (http://www.etfa2014.org/etfa2014/workshops/m2h) - held in conjunction with the 19th IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA'2014), Barcelona, Spain

*Aims and scope*
Healthcare systems are highly computerized large-scale distributed systems. To manage the increasing demand and financial pressure, radically new planning and control approaches are needed. Future planning and control requires better integration of various subsystems and advanced algorithms for information handling, prognosis and optimization. It also needs to be useful and understandable by healthcare personnel and patients as well as shifting from a reactive care to proactive and patient-centered care.

This workshop intends to bring together universities and hospitals to discuss actual problems of healthcare systems related to the hospital planning and management. The focus of the workshop is on the logistics and planning of patient activities and resource utilization. Since the application domain is very complex, the workshop will discuss how new models describing the healthcare system behavior and new algorithms can be implemented using advanced Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

*Call for Contributions*
The contributions to this workshop may address, but are not limited to:

· Online / offline optimization of resource utilization or patient sequences. · Domain Specific Languages and user interfaces for modeling and planning by staff and patients.
· Verification of policies and decisions.
· Online or offline synthesis of control policies.
· Healthcare systems behavior models.
· Data and process mining of healthcare systems behavior.
· Simulation and prognosis of future system behavior.
· Configuration and matching of patient activities and staff abilities.
· Successful ICT implementations.

*Workshop Presentation Formats and Submission of Proposals*

Prospective participants are management of the invited to electronically submit full papers of their work. The papers are limited to 8 double column pages in a font no smaller than 10-points. Guidelines for preparing proceedings-style manuscripts are available for Microsoft Word, Open Office and LaTeX users in a specific template (see the ETFA webpage). The accepted papers will be published in the ETFA’2014 conference proceedings online at IEEExplore.

*Author’s Schedule*

Deadline for submission of Workshop paper: March 15, 2014
Notification of acceptance of Workshop papers: May 15, 2014
