In particular, we deal with the problem of electrical infrastructure management aspects related to EVs. EVs will be plugged into the electric infrastructure (distribution networks) for the re-charging of their batteries, and they will share capacity with other users of electricity. On the other hand, electricity distribution and generation infrastructures are currently turning into Smart Grids for more efficient management. >From a computational point of view, this involves demand forecast methods, state estimation techniques, and real-time monitoring, leading to communication and control of residential and commercial areas taking place at a fine granularity. The adopted computational approach is based on concepts, methods and tools oriented to the processing of Continuous Data Streams. This is due to the critical characteristic of these problems is related to large volumes of data being generated in a distributed, stream fashion, and real-time -which is often agnostic of demand variation in a given geographical area. Special properties of this domain require to expand on the research & methodologies around Continuous Data Flow Processing Systems further. Moreover, the fine granularity required for the management of Smart Grids leads to a large- scale & big data processing challenge. In particular, the main scientific & technical objectives are: 1) The development of a methodology for the construction of applications for Continuous Data Streams Processing. It must cover all Software Engineering phases of the life cycle, and must be able to address functional and non-functional requirements together with the specification of the execution infrastructure and the involved resources. 2) In order to support the previous methodology, we will define an executable specification language across all the software architectural levels. It will support modular and hierarchical specification of these types of applications, together with the associated tools, analysis, verification, simulation, implementation, execution and monitoring. A set of mechanisms, taking into account different architectural configurations that can be used in the implementation, will be designed to support the studied policies & mechanisms. 3) Analysis, design and development of a proof of concept Autonomic Smart Energy Management System for Electric Vehicles infrastructure management. The team includes researchers with background in very diverse fields (computer science, networks, mathematics, statistics, formal methods, petri nets, artificial intelligence, distributed systems and electrical engineering). As a consequence, one of the project added values is the possibility to deal with problems of very diverse fields using concepts and methods from very diverse fields.
