Post-doctoral fellow position in software engineering at Western Norway
University of Applied Sciences
The Faculty of Engineering and Business Administration has one open
post-doctoral positon in software engineering for two years with the
possibility of a one year extension.
The researcher will be affiliated with the faculty's research environment in
information and communication technology (http://ict.hvl.no) which currently
includes 20 professors and associate professors, 15 PhD students, and a large
number of master's students. Researchers at the Faculty are active in
international, national and regional research, and research projects in
collaboration with many universities and companies internationally and
nationally. The main research focus in computer science is on software
engineering, engineering computing, and sensor networks.
The post-doctoral position is a strategic position intended to strengthen the
internal collaboration between the research areas of software engineering,
engineering computing and sensor networks. This means that there is a large
degree of freedom for the successful candidate to influence the research topics
and directions. Specifically, we seek a post-doctoral researcher to undertake
research work in software engineering in conjunction with one or more of the
areas of (in non-prioritized order):
- Networked embedded systems and internet-of-things
- Sensor networks and cyber-physical systems
- Models and platforms for massive data analysis, big data and machine learning
- Engineering computing, computational medicine, and computational marine
science
- Interactive collaborative systems and computer graphics
- Healthcare systems and care technology
Applications should include a research plan explaining how the research profile
and skills of the applicant aligns with the themes outlined above, and propose
research directions that the candidate intends to pursue. The successful
applicant must have earned a doctorate degree in informatics/computer
science/software engineering, or have submitted the PhD thesis before the
application deadline. In the latter case, it is required that the PhD degree be
awarded prior to the undertaking of interviews with shortlisted candidates.
