'make getincludedirs' does work - provided one uses a petsc makefile [perhaps from build sources]. But no makefile is installed in the prefix location. Also this build is not a prefix build. With a prefix install both 'petsc.h' and 'petscconf.h' reside in prefix/include location. satish
