You should be using petsc-master since slepc-dev is in sync with petsc-master, not petsc-next. Anyway, I think the problem is the arpack-flags option, it should be like this (with a comma, as in the example of the manual): $ ./configure --with-arpack-dir=/home1/00924/Reddy135/LocalApps/arpack/lib --with-arpack-flags=-lparpack,-larpack Jose
