Just curious what's considered the best practice for setting up
pgpool. It seems like there are three primary setups:

* install directly on db server(s), this seems less-than-ideal unless
all you want is connection pooling?

* install on each app/web server that needs to connect to db server

* install on its own server or, ideally, set of servers (with heartbeat, etc.)


And tangentially, if doing either of the latter two ways, do you
install postgres client along with pgpool? Or just libpq?
