When I just start it:
  postgres@hobbes:/usr/local/pgsql > pg_id
  26

It tells me I can use a parameter:
  postgres@hobbes:/usr/local/pgsql > pg_id -?
  pg_id: invalid option -- ?
  usage: pg_id [login]

But when I do it, the following happens
  postgres@hobbes:/usr/local/pgsql > pg_id postgres
  Segmentation fault

Is that part of the problem?
