Hi, I just subscribed to this list. Can't get initdb to run on a Redhat 5.2 installation because of an 'ERROR: can't read block 0 from pg_variables'. I looked in the archives and saw several people asking for this problem, as far back as two years ago. There never was an answer except for making sure that the user is specified during the call for initdb. I got postmaster running and specify a user and still get this error. Any help would be appreciated. Max PS: I'm thinking of migrating a large database system (currently under Ingres on a vintage Sparcserver) to Linux Postgres. Where would I post inquiries about that (not on this list, I presume).
