Ok, first, make sure that your postmaster can access connections from TCP/IP
with the -i parameters.
Then, make sure that your (i don't remember the name) allow hosts file lists
the box that you are connecting from.
Finaly, check to see if you version of postmaster is compatible with the
driver (ODBC) you got, I would check the driver for it's version. It
supports version 6.2 through 6.4, make sure you have the correct version.
I'm not sure if the packet length thing is a problem, I don't know the pgsql
protocol and don't remember the telnet protocol, for sure there is *some*
sort of protocol for both, they may just be incompatible. The fact that you
can connect to the port is a good sign (in my opinion) since it proves that
there is something listening.
make sure that you specify a database and all in the odbc driver and start
with "Link table" rather than import. Unless you *really* want to get the
data off postgresql, in that case, don't beat your head to a brick wall and
just do a select statement in psql and redirect it to a file, that you can
copy-paste in Access.
However, the linked table from access through the ODBC and finally on the
Linux-postgres is something that I already did, without any gym...
shouldn't be a problem.

Well I have postgres installed on my linux box, and I downloaded my ODBC
driver
for windows and installed it, but when I try to Import using the postgres
odbc
driver in Accesss it gives me errors. I also get Invalid Packet Length
errors
on the linux box when I try to telnet to hosdtname: port 5432.
