Hello,
I had reached out to Stephen Frost last week on GSOD slack. I am Debjani, with
4 years of experience, currently working at IBM as an information developer to
write release notes, create other customer-facing content including contextual
help, user experience writing, filing bugs, by user testing new features,
suggesting and helping the team with documentation efforts and ideas. I have
also contributed to Mozilla as an open source enthusiast. You can find my
resume here and LinkedIn profile here.
I am interested in fixing the introductory tutorial available here
(https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/tutorial-install.html) which is, in
fact, a little difficult for beginners as stated and a few changes from a tech
writer's perspective could really get this going. I also believe that
documenting the patch submitting procedure could be an add on to this because
that is one of the things that contributors look at, and the more contributions
the merrier.
Although I have not contributed to Postgresql before but have contributed to
other open source docs. I have experience in migrating legacy docs to user
manual format and I think would be a great help. I also beta test applications
at my current role and can help write resources for beginners. Looking forward
to your response, so that I could submit a more formal application and draft up
a proposal.
Thanks, Debjani Chatterjee
