Hi,

PostgreSQL's default port is 5432, and if the Postgres instance on your computer is the only one there then that's what it'll be listening on.

I don't know anything about Ruby or how you connect to PG from it, but you need to tell it to use port 5432.

Alternatively, if you really want to use port 3000, then you need to edit postgresql.conf and change the "port" setting there. You'll need to restart PG for this to take effect.

Either way, you need to connect to the port on which PG is listening.
