This will work in 8.5:

CREATE TABLE x (
    i int NOT NULL UNIQUE DEFERRABLE INITIALLY DEFERRED
);
INSERT INTO x (i) VALUES (1), (2), (3);
UPDATE x SET i = i + 1;
