The question is at what point would third party "imported" datasets, required for local lookup require their own dedicated solution (database and/or server)? Especially when we are talking about a large amounts of data that come with their own unique global identifiers. Something like ISO 3166, even small, would do well with its own database - but not large enough to require a dedicated server.

This is the question I put to the OP, I would be interested to know.
