On the flip side we allow this:

=# select '019a2f85-9ced-ffff-b99d-9c55044a2563' :: uuid;
                 uuid
--------------------------------------
 019a2f85-9ced-ffff-b99d-9c55044a2563

So I guess the patch is fine.
