I didn't look at the patch but I strongly agree that ResOwnerReleaseBufferPin() should not also release locks, so it should have a new name. Ironic that ResOwnerReleaseBufferIO() releases pins and not locks. What about ResOwnerReleaseBufferClaim() or ResOwnerReleaseBufferAccess() or ResOwnerReleaseBufferHold()? - Melanie
