That v3 patch still applies, but it hasn't received any feedback yet.
I think allowing the update as MariaDB does is the best choice. The v2
patch forbidding the update is an option too, but it never received
any feedback, and it's a larger change.
I have committed the tests in patch v3 and closed the open item.
