There are crucial things missing here, namely the need to establish at least one database connection in order to be able to check for the existence of jobs, as well as to establish additional connections as contexts in which to run jobs. That implies the need for some New Stuff that isn't quite the same as what we have within server processes today. There is nothing horrible about this; just that there's some extra mechanism that needs to come into existence in order to do this. -- When confronted by a difficult problem, solve it by reducing it to the question, "How would the Lone Ranger handle this?" -- Sent via pgsql-hackers mailing list (pgsql-hackers@postgresql.org) To make changes to your subscription: http://www.postgresql.org/mailpref/pgsql-hackers
