I am going to review the previous thread and attempt to distill what can be done. I will then post a summary of what I found, with potential commentary. If a consensus is reached, I'd like to see the feature in 7.3. Peter had mentioned it as well; might want to see if he has done anything as yet with it. That being said, a patch exists for 7.2beta to effect a version of this change. I will also review this patch as I can and see what will be required to make this work in CURRENT. IMO, the key is that if the switch is not specified the current behavior is default.
