On a dedicated db machine with 2 Gigs of ram 500Meg is fine.  I run
768 Meg shared_buffers on a machine that runs postgresql 8.2 and
apache/php and routinely have 1Gig of kernel cache on it.

So yeah, 200M shared_buffers should be no problem.
