An option is to install Oracle VirtualBox, which is an open source software
that installs on Windows (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads).
I have installed it on Windows 7 and then I installed a convenient Ubuntu
image to try out all the examples in the book. It works nicely. You don't
need dual boot at all; VirtualBox installs/runs as an application on
Windows host OS and runs Ubuntu/Linux as a virtualized guest OS.

Hope that helps.
