X11 is no longer included in MacOS -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5293 Thats the bad news The good news is that libraries like GTK which was the big reason to use X11 on macos like GIMP now use the Quartz backend of X11. Quartz allow you to have native look GUI on macos. So now all GTK apps can feel native on MACOS.
