When I originally installed phoebe 8.0.93. There was some hangover code from bonobo that caused various programs to be corrupted.
Have you launched these programs through the gnome-terminal yet? The reason I ask is that I've noticed that I usually only got a dialog box with error written in it, if I ran things from the launcher. If ran through the terminal, I would get more information about the failures.
I went from 8.0-8 to 8.0.93 to 8.0.94 for my upgrade cycle. I haven't tried an 8.0-8 to 8.0.94 upgrade cycle.
I noticed a lot of upgraded programs have appeared in 8.0 that are newer than what is available for 8.0.93. I wonder if there are severe problems with the interactions from current 8.0 programs and coming up to 8.0.94. I hope not!
To me, as only a user, not developer. This running only certain non-root programs, as root, without segfaulting, sounds pretty serious.
I assume that it is caused by a common program, within these affected programs. sgi-fam seems to be a seriously misbehaving program. Is this program currently running?

Please understand that I am not asking for support or demanding that these bugs be fixed. I just wanted to see if my problems were unique, and I thought I should point them out anyway, since a crash is a fairly critical error.
