I have a Capehart Orchestrope model 28F for sale. This model is
from the 1928-29 era. I believe it to be complete except for the
lower back door. There are pieces that have become unglued from the
ball feet but I think I have them all. It has the original amp and
speaker. The cabinet is in good shape but needs to be restored. The
mechanism and the electronics need to be restored also. It still has
the original three pieces of beveled glass in the door. This model
plays both sides of twenty eight records in a row. The records are
stacked to the left of the turntable. The top one is placed on to the
turntable as the old one is taken off, flipped over on its' back then
brought back under the turntable and placed in the bottom of the
stack. It is pick up only on Long Island, NY. Price is $3,800.
I wasn't sure if this was ok to post here but there are two things about it
that I believe make it ok. First, the turntable runs on a spring which is
wound by an electric winder. Line voltage of the day in many areas of the
country wasn't regulated well enough to keep the turntable running at a
steady speed so they used the "old fashioned" spring. Second, I am selling
this to justify spending too much money on an Edison that I recently bought.
If interested email me for pics.
