I get them occasionally, Ray.

I just send 'em to the spam file and that seems to stop it for a bit.

Sorry listers, I had that in the "to be sent file" when someone already
answered the question and accidentally sent it out when I was working on
comments
on the Idelia that was on eBay.

Beginning with the Triumph E they started to put them on the back like that,
some of E's have them on the front, some including mine had it on the back.

Does anyone have photos of the numbered peg layout on a Herzog Half-Barrel
cabinet that they could send to me? I am ready to install new pegs (that are
already stenciled) but am not sure as to the layout.

Thanks

Mark

Subject: [Phono-L] Any Interest in an Edison Idealia
Message-ID: <[email protected]>

I decided a month or so ago to part with my Edison Idealia. I offerd it to
some of my close phongraph friends, but have had no takers. I have now
decided to offer it to the list before I ebay it or???
If anyone has a real interest in adding a great Idelia to their collection
please contact me off list. A brief description is as follows. Bed plate and
and crank oxidized finish is in my opinion in great original condition. It has
a nickle plated "O" reproducer which I most all I have seen has. Base cabinet
has been refinished, Lid is a replacement, but has the original and correct
handle. It has a Spruce cygent horn, bottom of crane is original , but top
portion looks thin to me , but is old, and I was assured that it all was
original when I purchased it years ago. I believe that Horn Elbow has
original paint , and in my opinion the spruce horn is spectatcular on the
machine. The Spruce bell has been refinished and has the black stripe on the
outside, whcih I ma told only came on the disk horns. So several experts have
told me that it is a cut down disk bell, and others have said not ir it could
be right. I have nver cared one way or the other as it is
fantastic looking and goes very well with the bed plate, etc. Price will be
negotiated , but will be quite a bit less than the one recently sold on ebay.
Machine can be shipped at buyers expense or delivered to Union free.

If anyone has a serious interest, please contact me off list.
[email protected] or call me at 530 945 2221. I am also selling some other
great machines and cabinets.

And while I'm tapping the great knowledge bank that is the phonolist,
are there any basic rules of thumb be applied to buying a portable
phonograph?
What types of problems are common/endemic to certain models?
What's impossible to repair and should be inspected before purchase?
What's a generally good make/model?
etc
