Synchro on 2-3-4 IIRC. 1-2 was still non synchro.

They were interesting engines. 4 cyl tractor engine converted to OHV.
IIRC the TR-3 was a slightly larger version of a modified tractor motor.
And, 3 main bearings in a 5500 rpm engine was a real stroke of
brilliant engineering. They were real fun cars though. You only got
damp in a rainstorm with the top down as long as you were driving 25 to
30mph, more than that and the back of your head and the inside of the
windshield got wet. Black leather seats and sun....

I love them too, but a TA, TC or TF would definitely fill the bill. I
actually think I like the built in headlights of the TF better and what
  about
the large wire wheels of the TA and TC?

Well, if you're going to drag in the MG jokes...

  Q. Why do people in England drink their beer warm?

A. Because their refrigerators are powered by Lucas.

Boy, would I love to have an MG-TD, my ultimate dream car. Perhaps
  after I find
that large collection of E condition Robert Johnson Vocalions, Son
House
  Paramounts, etc.

If there is no puddle of oil under the machine then it is out of oil
  and
you need to add some. 1938 MG-TA leaked like a sieve.

on something (which wasn't working, of course) and just busted out

right.
  I

Did you hear the one about why there was never a successful
phonograph
industry in England?

(answer:) Because they couldn't figure out how to make the machines
  break
down and start leaking oil every
    week.................................
