Thanks Bill and Steve and everyone for the comments and photos of the boxes.

Looks like two variations of this box, with the Amberola variant having three holes and the Disc version having two.

The disc version seems to have a gap between the glued-in wedge shaped insert and the side wall of the box. It would be interesting to know if this allowed for the containment of some kind of literature or owner's manual, or if it was simply an economy of materials to make the solid wood insert a certain dimension that made it not quite go all the way to the wall of the box.

It's great to see the tools in detail and with measurements.

If anyone has any further information, it would be good to be aware of, but this is a nice start.

Thanks again,

Folks,

Here is my Amberola 1A box. It has 3 holes. I also have that same oil can you pictured which came with the Amberola. I never knew it fit in the box!

Thanks!

Steve

Hi Guys,

This is the box in my Opera that I believe is probably what has been discussed on Phono-L. As I said earlier, I have have several Operas over the years but have only had one with this box and equipment in it. If it the same as yours, perhaps it will help clear up the mystery.

Happy Collecting,
