 Status: Open
 Bug Type: ODBC related
 Operating System: Win2k Pro/Adv Server
 PHP Version: 4.1.1
 New Comment:

The Problem is also there with text fields and Informix 7.2 (Sparc). We
tried the generic ODBC Drivers and the Merant Drivers (Ad. W2k Server,
Apache, PHP 4.1.1).
It must be a general problem with text-fields.

Selecting only other than text colums will go around the problem.

No - this is with text type fields. I just tried it with ntext and php
just crashes. (using mssql functions text works fine and ntext gives
an error todo with unicode).

I'm using the isapi dll btw.

Is your text field of type 'ntext'?

Using odbc functions with MS SQL Server 2k,
using odbc_exec() with a select query to fill a result set.

Fields of type varchar are returned successfully, but text fields
behave strangely.

When doing:
$someField = odbc_result($resID, "textField");

the value of the field seems to be echoed, and $someField is given the
value '1'.

Changing the field type to varchar in SQL Server (and changing no php
code), it returns to the expected behaviour (value of the field
assigned to $someField).

I've got the same behavior on 2 different installs of php, one running
w2k pro with local sql server and one w2k adv server and remote sql
server.
