This bug has been fixed in CVS. Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change will be in the next snapshot. You can grab the snapshot at http://snaps.php.net/. Thank you for the report, and for helping us make PHP better. This is fixed in CVS, xp_ssl.c revision 1.36, thanks to stotty@ for the patch. I've backported it to 5.3.x; will backport to 5.2.x if it's OK with the RM too.
