While I do not doubt that this is an annoying bug, there are very simple and clear workarounds. I'm really not seeing why everyone is so upset about this. I reported the bug and we fixed the Mandriva package almost immediately with the work around and I'm not aware of any fallout from that change. The fix for this needs to happen on the libxml2 layer. One of those will sort you out.
