could be that you are missing libtool  make sure you install the package

FYI: I tested with my Fedora5 machine and it works just fine.

Why did you install php-mcrypt? You're compiling from sources, you don't
need that. Are you sure you don't have some old mcrypt version
installed? e.g. from sources under /usr/local ?

the problem is caused by --with-mcrypt without it no problems.

libmcrypt, libmcrypt-devel and php-mcrypt are installed and up to date.

What is the problem?

And before you run configure with the proper configure line, use CLEAN
sources!

First of all: You're passing wrong paths to configure options.

You're not supposed to pass /lib in any of those options. Remove those
from each one of them.
