This bug has been fixed in CVS. In case this was a PHP problem, snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change will be in the next snapshot. You can grab the snapshot at http://snaps.php.net/. In case this was a documentation problem, the fix will show up soon at http://www.php.net/manual/. It should fail allowing the script to handle the error gracefully (in my case moving on to the next URL). Please try PHP-4.3.0RC2 from http://qa.php.net. Be sure to read the NEWS file for info about the timeout option. FOr example fopen("http://anyurl.com","r";) works fine but fopen("http://reptile.peerfear.org/reptile/servlet/sitefilter/http/www.cnn.com/WORLD","r";) Just sits there for ever.
