 Status: Bogus
 Bug Type: Compile Failure
Operating System: Debian linux 3.0 / linux 2.4.19
 PHP Version: 4.3.0RC4
 New Comment:

But I get this error too, and while it says it is a warning, it does
actually cause 'make' to quit at that point, unfinished.

Why is this always marked bogus? Can't somebody at least mention a fix
or investigate further instead of just unhelpful comments, since so
many people have been reporting it?

Most likely because it is done at that point.

Ah, can I tell it to continue and ignore the error? because it stops at
that line.

That's not a compile error. That's just a warning.

Compiling php 4.3.0rc4 on my linux box failed with:

ext/mysql/libmysql/my_tempnam.lo: In function `my_tempnam':
/usr/src/php-4.3.0RC4/ext/mysql/libmysql/my_tempnam.c:103: the use of
`tempnam' is dangerous, better use `mkstemp'

the configure line was ./configure
--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs

Thanks
Tom Lanyon
