Make command fails with following message 

gcc: ext/standard/a: No such file or directory
make: *** [sapi/cli/php] Error 1

configuration completes with the following:

./configure --enable-debug --enable-libgcc --enable-dbx \
            --enable-ftp --enable-inline-optimization \
