Hmmm - i must say that indeed packer.h is needed because the extension uses somee kind of low level interface to the library. If you get the original library you will have that file. Get it from: ftp://coast.cs.purdue.edu/pub/tools/unix/libs/cracklib/ Maybe it is an option to rewrite the extension to support the interface avalable from the rpms or to support both.
