The Zend engine in PHP is open source, their other closed-source
extensions are their responsibility, ask them (and leave this bug set
to bogus)

Sorry...no 3rd party extensions loaded at ALL...use INI that distibutes
with package as is with MINOR exception - PATHS...deleted OLD
INI....BTW.
Again, PHP 4.3.4 works without exception.

You're doing something wrong, you're loading some 3rd party extension,
etc. It works fine with proper configuration.

PHP 4.3.4 works without errors on both systems.
