To reduce the number of variables, I built a Red Hat 9 server from CDs, installed Yum, ran a full upgrade cycle, then tried to install 4.3.10. Apache would not start, or would crash immediately without any tombstones. Reproduce code: --------------- Load Red Hat 9 from CDs. Install Yum per instructions from Fedora Legacy project yum update download php source. ./configure <parameters> make make install Expected result: ---------------- I expected PHP 4.3.10 to install and run normally. Actual result: -------------- Apache died without a trace. "service httpd status" said that the service was dead but a PID file was in place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/?id=31344&edit=1
